Acne can commonly be seen by the appearance of pimples on the skin, although usually found on the face it is possible for acne to appear on most parts of the body. The pores in the skin then become clogged with the excess oils which then leads to a swelling of these areas.

If it is not treated early, acne can develop into scarring. This is more likely to happen if you scratch the acne because it will become inflamed. The best way to counter this is to treat it as early as possible and not scratch the acne. Acne can sometimes develop into blackheads or whiteheads which can be very irritating and painful. Sometimes though the spots will stay red.

It has not beeen proven by research yet, but it has been suggested that the chances of acne appearing is proportional with factors such as stress, humidity and tiredness. Hence the rationale behind the use of chemicals on the face, these chemicals can further inflame and irritate the skin.
