Natural Acne Treatments

It is the view of many experts and professionals that a key factor in the treatment of acne is the diet of the sufferer.  Certain foods can have a great affect on not only your acne but also the way you look and feel.  We will try to guide you through the dos and don’ts of having the right acne diet.

Reducing your intake of milk can have a very good affect on your acne, try not to drink any more than two glasses of milk a day because there are many different types of hormones in milk which will be harmful to your skin and ultimately your acne.

An excellent source of omega 3 oil is fish, so not only is fish itself good for your diet but also omega 3 is excellent for your heart and skin.

Cutting down on your sugar intake will be an excellent move and will have other beneficial affects on your health as well as on your acne.  Avoid candy and sweets, cookies, cakes and fizzy drinks which are high in sugar content.

A factor that has been researched a lot is the presence of sebum on or in the skin.  This is related to the presence of acne, therefore you need to try to stick to a plant based and low fat food diet.  This will help to reduce the amount of sebum on the skin and lead to the reduction of acne.

There are a high number of vitamins and antioxidants located in many fruits and vegetables.  So try to eat as many of these as you can, both will and without meals.

It is also important to take in a balanced level of vitamins with your diet as well in order to keep your skin healthy and minimise the chance of acne becoming a major problem.

In terms of vitamin A, it has been shown that if the levels of this vitamin are reduced then acne can be agrravated further.  This is because vitamin A reduces the amount of sebum being produced which can cause acne to become worse.  This vitamin also acts as an antioxidant which as you will have read above, helps to reduce acne.  For the best sources of vitamin A in your food look at items such as green leafy vegetables, orange or yellow fruits and carrots.

Vitamin B contains a number of other vitamins, the main thing you need to know here is that all of them together help to maintain the skins health.  There are a number of foods that contain sources of vitamin B, examples include avocados, green pepper, bananas, watermelons and chickpeas.

Another important vitamin in effective acne treatment is vitamin E.  It has antioxidants which help to repair the skin as well as protecting against cellular damage.
