It is often assumed that acne is only suffered by teenagers who are experiencing puberty. However this isn’t always the case, it has been known for people in their 20’s to breakout in acne. Therefore it is prudent to be aware of various treatments and methods of controlling your acne.

Acne can commonly be seen by the appearance of pimples on the skin, although usually found on the face it is possible for acne to appear on most parts of the body. Acne is mainly caused by the pilosebaceous gland being overactive which means that more oil is produced than usual. This extra oil then combines with bacteria and dead skin cells. The pores in the skin then become clogged with the excess oils which then leads to a swelling of these areas.

If it is not treated early, acne can develop into scarring. This is more likely to happen if you scratch the acne because it will become inflamed. The best way to counter this is to treat it as early as possible and not scratch the acne. Acne can sometimes develop into blackheads or whiteheads which can be very irritating and painful. Sometimes though the spots will stay red.

It has not beeen proven by research yet, but it has been suggested that the chances of acne appearing is proportional with factors such as stress, humidity and tiredness. Hence the rationale behind the use of chemicals on the face, these chemicals can further inflame and irritate the skin.

Please remember to check with your Doctor or Medical consultant before applying creams to your skin, some creams can be very effective in the treatment of acne but it is best to check first. If possible, seek medical advice as soon as possible when your acne appears.

You have much more chance of getting effective help the earlier you receive a prognosis. You will have a good chance of being prescribed medications that help control your acne if it is still in the development stages when you see a Doctor. As tempting as it may be, try not to squeeze the pimples. This only acts to spread the infection as well as causing a swelling in the affected areas of the skin. You are also much more likely to develop scars as a result of your acne if you squeeze the pimples.

As mentioned earlier on, acne is caused by an excess of oil on the skin which clogs up the pores and combines with bacteria, therefore it is advisable to avoid oily cosmetics. If you are looking for types of makeup to wear, try to find water based ones that will be softer on the skin. As always remove this makeup at night.

It is the view of many experts and professionals that a key factor in the treatment of acne is the diet of the sufferer. Certain foods can have a great affect on not only your acne but also the way you look and feel. We will try to guide you through the dos and don’ts of having the right acne diet.

Reducing your intake of milk can have a very good affect on your acne, try not to drink any more than two glasses of milk a day because there are many different types of hormones in milk which will be harmful to your skin and ultimately your acne.

An excellent source of omega 3 oil is fish, so not only is fish itself good for your diet but also omega 3 is excellent for your heart and skin.

Cutting down on your sugar intake will be an excellent move and will have other beneficial affects on your health as well as on your acne. Avoid candy and sweets, cookies, cakes and fizzy drinks which are high in sugar content.

A factor that has been researched a lot is the presence of sebum on or in the skin. This is related to the presence of acne, therefore you need to try to stick to a plant based and low fat food diet. This will help to reduce the amount of sebum on the skin and lead to the reduction of acne.

There are a high number of vitamins and antioxidants located in many fruits and vegetables. So try to eat as many of these as you can, both will and without meals.

It is also important to take in a balanced level of vitamins with your diet as well in order to keep your skin healthy and minimise the chance of acne becoming a major problem.

In terms of vitamin A, it has been shown that if the levels of this vitamin are reduced then acne can be agrravated further. This is because vitamin A reduces the amount of sebum being produced which can cause acne to become worse. This vitamin also acts as an antioxidant which as you will have read above, helps to reduce acne. For the best sources of vitamin A in your food look at items such as green leafy vegetables, orange or yellow fruits and carrots.

Vitamin B contains a number of other vitamins, the main thing you need to know here is that all of them together help to maintain the skins health. There are a number of foods that contain sources of vitamin B, examples include avocados, green pepper, bananas, watermelons and chickpeas.

Another important vitamin in effective acne treatment is vitamin E. It has antioxidants which help to repair the skin as well as protecting against cellular damage.

Changing your diet can have a very good effect on your acne so it is worthwhile thinking about. The main parts of your food intake to try to cut down on are sugars and fats. Refined sugar needs to be cut out of your diet totally so therefore cut out the soda drinks and check which fruit juices you are drinking. Also chocolate and sweets need to go out of your diet, as difficult as it may be to cut out these treats, it will benefit the treatment of your acne. Be careful though because your body will need sugar as a short term energy boost, so look out for nutritional drinks that will be full of everything your body needs to stay healthy but without too much sugar or fat.

As well as fats and sugars, you should also try to cut out oils which are hydrogenated. Foods that commonly contain this type of oil include snacks such as cakes, desserts and cookies. Instead of hydrogenated oils you can replace them with natural oils which include olive oil and cod liver oil.

A good way to develop a natural treatment to acne using your diet is to eat the right balance of foods. It has been advised by nutrionists that you don’t eat meats together with starch products such as pasta and bread. Try to eat fruit on its own and npt combined with anything else.

Specific elements of food that you should try to avoid are monosodium glutamate which is also known as MSG. These are often found in chinese foods and processed meats. Also the neurotoxin aspartame which is used as a sweetener in diet drinks.

Also the build up of poisonous waste in your bowels doesn’t help with treating your acne naturally. The best foods to avoid in order to help your bowels function properly are red meats and processed foods.

The chances are that many sufferers of Acne have heard about all sorts of fantastic cures and treatments that give an overnight cure for acne. However what a lot of people forget is that although acne can be treated, it cannot be cured. Many people will in fact grow out of acne in time, so be aware of this and try yo learn about your own acne and how it affects you.

There are many products online which are indeed good quality and can have a fantastic effect on your acne, but remember that everyone is different and their acne will be affected in different ways by different treatments. You really have two types of basic treatments available, regular conventional ones that will be recommended by your Doctor, or natural remedies. Both will have different affects depending on your condition. Be aware though at natural acne remedies may take a bit longer to have an effect.

It is unfortunate that the majority of people who suffer from acne struggle to find a good cream or treatment which improves their condition. This is mainly because acne and the treatments of acne affect people in different ways, so there isn’t a quick fix that will treat everyone.

Therefore below are a number of ingredients that are used in good cosmetic products which may help to improven acne. Ascorbyl palmitate can often be found in Jan Marini C-Esta products. It is a fat soluble form of vitamin C which is yet another antioxidant which can improve acne affected skin. It is a synthetic compound which was made so that it was fat soluble which helps to improve its absorption through the layers of the skin. As opposed to water soluble products which are unable to penetrate the skin as well as lipid soluble ones.

An ingredient that is mainly found in anti aging products is Ferulic Acid. This is because it has properties that make it an antioxidant. Your skin is being oxidized by environmental pollutants and UV rays from the sun. Antioxidants can also help with post inflammatory hyperpigmentation which many acne sufferers get.

Salicylic acid, which is also known as beta hydroxy acid. It is commonly found in concentrations of 2% in many skincare treatments. This acid is a good choice if you are an acne sufferer who gets mild to moderate breakouts of acne.

Glycolic compound has helped some acne sufferers achieve good improvements with their problems. It has also helped other people who have problems aside from acne but skin related. This compund is a ph balanced mix of glycolic acid and ammonium glycolate. All acne treatments will act in different ways to combat the effects of acne on the skin.

These ways range from dermabrasion, exfoliation and anti bacterial action. In terms of adult acne, antioxidants have proven to be very effective because they work to protect the skin. Start taking a look around at the ingredients in skin care products and bear in mind the above guidelines. Remember though that everyones acne is different and you need to consult your Doctor or medical consultant.

As mentioned in other articles, acne can affect a wide range of people in different ways, however it is most likely to appear in teenagers. The reason that teenagers are more at risk from acne is because of when they hit puberty. In modern times, teenagers are much more concerned about their image and appearance than ever before. For this reason it is important to take notice of how big a problem this could be for your child. Try to understand that they will be concerned about their image. If your child does develop acne don’t avoid talking about the subject with them, let them know that you are aware of it and give them the help and support they need to deal with their acne.

Also be prepared to go and get advice about the subject on your child’s behalf, they may feel very shy about going to a Doctor on their own so be aware of this. Sit with them and read the information you find and if they want you to, go to your local Doctors or Medical consultants to get help. When you go and visit a Doctor about acne, you may find that there are many options available such as clinics and family advice centres.
The treatments themselves can include items such as over the counter medicines and creams. Alternatively the Doctor may prescribe some stronger medication if they feel the acne is severe enough to warrant it. The Doctor may also advise you to go and visit a dermatologist who specialises in the treatment of skin conditions. You will probably also find that your Doctor or dermatoligist will provide you with leaflets and sources of information about acne.

If they don’t do so then make sure you ask them about it and request information. They should be able to provide information on topics such as how to treat the outbreak of acne, how to treat acne on an ongoing basis and also prevention methods. It has been suggested recently that acne is a problem that about half of all teenagers will experience at some time of another.

It may be possible for you Medical advisor to find a specific cause of acne with your child, it may have been triggered by cosmetic products. It is advisable to read about acne so that you have a broad knowledge of the subject even if your child has not yet shown any signs of developing acne. This is so that you may be able to spot the signs of acne as soon as possible and therefore increasing your child’s chances of getting an early diagnosis.
