The problem comes because we believe that this is what other people see as well. The consequences can extend even further for some people, they avoid going out in public and hate the thought of being looked at. These are the problems that acne can cause beyond that of the physical symptoms. The fact that you are an adult who suffers from acne makes the problem even worse because when teenagers suffer from acne it is expected. After all over half of all teenagers will suffer from acne at some point in their lives. What people forget is that acne can affect adults as well.

In general acne is the appearance of white heads, black heads and red lumps on the skin. It is the result of overactive oil glands which cause a blockage of the pores on the skin. This oil will then combine with dead skin cells and bacteria and acne will break out.
The most commonly affected areas of the body are the face and the back, however it is possible for acne to appear on most parts of the body. One of the problems in finding a cure to acne is that it affects different people in different ways. Therefore a treatment will affect different people in different ways. There are commonly three types of acne, mild inflammatory acne, moderate to severe acne and severe acne. Therefore the treatments available can be wide ranging and effective in different ways.
The first step you need to take is to see your Doctor or Medical consultant who will advise you of the best course of action to treat and bring your acne under control. One important piece of advice that we can give you is not to squeeze and burst the pimples. We understand how tempting it can be but you really must avoid doing this. You will inflame the area even more and this could lead the the area becoming bigger and spreading to other areas.
Also remember that acne can scar the skin, and this is much more likely to happen if you pick at the pimples and squeeze them. Another way to try and control your acne is to avoid exposure to the sun. This only acts to reduce the skins ability to heal and dry up the skin.
It has also not been totally proven that acne is caused by a persons diet. However it may be possible for certain ingredients in food to aggravate the acne and make it worse. Foods that are high in refined sugar may be a common cause. Even if your acne is not diet related, it doesn’t do your body any harm to cut down on products which are high in refined sugar content or are deep fried. Also drinking more water is good for your overall health and cleanses your body of toxins.
